A South Carolina man pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking between January and August 2023.
According to court documents, Alexander Smalls, 27, of Beaufort, South Carolina, conspired with co-defendant Christy Parker, 28, and others to use physical beatings, threats, intimidation, sleep deprivation, starvation, and other means to coerce at least one adult victim to engage in repeated commercial sex acts in and around Fall River, Massachusetts between January and August 2023.

Christian advocacy groups are preparing to hold a rally outside the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC to highlight eight years since the abduction of Christian Nigerian schoolgirl Leah Sharibu and to call for renewed efforts to secure her release.
The June 18 demonstration, organised by Christian Freedom International, 21Wilberforce and the Jubilee Campaign, will coincide with the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict.
The event forms part of the Religious Liberty Partnership's Voices4Justice initiative, which seeks to raise awareness of religious freedom violations around the world.
Sharibu was just 14 years old when Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants stormed Government Girls' Science and Technical College in Dapchi, Yobe State, and was taken captive on February 19, 2018.
She was seized alongside more than 100 other schoolgirls

Al-Bakri, a survivor of the Israeli genocide in Gaza and a former detainee from Khan Younis, says he was held for 20 months and moved through five Israeli prisons.
“They stripped us of our clothes,” he says in the interview. “We are handcuffed … our hands were behind our backs and our legs were bound and we were blindfolded.”
Then came the allegation of violence, almost impossible to describe in words. “I was raped after being stripped of my clothes,” he says, “by a large dog.” In a separate part of the interview, he adds: “The seven of us were sexually assaulted by the dog.”
His was far from the only such allegation.

Middlebrooks sentenced Antonio Michel, 36, of Delray Beach, to 180 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor; Jaime Figueroa, 36, of Boynton Beach, to 235 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to production of child sexual abuse material; and Raymond Jean, 46, of Greenacres, to 144 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor

Christian advocacy groups are preparing to hold a rally outside the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC to highlight eight years since the abduction of Christian Nigerian schoolgirl Leah Sharibu and to call for renewed efforts to secure her release.
The June 18 demonstration, organised by Christian Freedom International, 21Wilberforce and the Jubilee Campaign, will coincide with the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict.
The event forms part of the Religious Liberty Partnership's Voices4Justice initiative, which seeks to raise awareness of religious freedom violations around the world.
Sharibu was just 14 years old when Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants stormed Government Girls' Science and Technical College in Dapchi, Yobe State, and was taken captive on February 19, 2018.
She was seized alongside more than 100 other schoolgirls

Al-Bakri, a survivor of the Israeli genocide in Gaza and a former detainee from Khan Younis, says he was held for 20 months and moved through five Israeli prisons.
“They stripped us of our clothes,” he says in the interview. “We are handcuffed … our hands were behind our backs and our legs were bound and we were blindfolded.”
Then came the allegation of violence, almost impossible to describe in words. “I was raped after being stripped of my clothes,” he says, “by a large dog.” In a separate part of the interview, he adds: “The seven of us were sexually assaulted by the dog.”
His was far from the only such allegation.
